"India: Satish Jha, OLPC India's CEO and president, has started working with 
Manusheel Gupta. Satish will be formally introduced locally by Nicholas 
Negroponte on August 4 during OLPC India Day. Satish already is discussing a 
customs duty exemption for the XO with government officials, and will pursue 
the subject in upcoming contacts with various agencies, including the 
Ministry of Finance."

Hemant Goyal from New Delhi is working on the integration of speech 
synthesis in the Sugar environment. He is accepted for Google's summer of 
code 2008. You can find more information and links about first attempts to

A few months ago, I had a XO-1 laptop in my hands. It is a nice and robust 
device and has small but good tactile keys. Hopefully many children all 
around the world will have access to it in the future. Hopefully disabled 
children will be able to use it for learning and participation as well.
