This seems to be an interesting question. I am not sure if what I know is 
correct, but others can correct me if they know.

First, if you want to connect your hard drive through a USB port, you would 
most likely need a jaws portable version. You can download the necessary files 
from here.

The webpage refers to a thumb drive version and not an external hard drive 
version, so I think perhaps this might not be what you are looking for.
There is a tutorial also available for this procedure.
If you mean to replace the host computer's harddrive with yours, then you would 
have to install jaws again.
