Special programmes for I-Day planned in bangalore

This Independence Day will see senior citizens , visually impaired and
physically challenged people come together and celebrate it in a
unique way. It will see flag hoisting, performance by a musical troupe
by the visually impaired and launch of special projects in front of
office of deputy director, horticulture , near Siddapura Gate,
Lalbagh, on Friday.

This initiative has been taken up by the Amaravathi, Senior Citizens
Adda in association with Lalbagh Walkers Association and IDL
Foundation, a non-profit NGO.

Speaking to the reporters, P K Paul, founder and executive trustee of
IDL Foundation said 60% of the 3,000 walkers in Lalbagh Botanical
Garden are senior citizens. It will give the opportunity to senior
citizens to participate in this programme. Patriotic songs will be
played by the IDL Blind Band. The idea is to spread the message that
senior citizens can also be helpful and reach out to the visually and
physically challenged people , said Paul.

On the occasion, about 150 radio sets will be gifted to the visually
impaired. For details, contact
