Nuance would list only those handsets on the web site that are fully tested
with talks. Every handset does have their own set of features and need some
adjustments to talks. Many handsets come with different keyboard layouts or
some additional keys here and there. By default talks suddenly doesn't speak
on some tried and tested applications. All these need to be fixed before
talks announces it to be supported. E71 is such an example. Most of the
features are working with this handset. How ever, some of the applications
are giving some troubles.

Thus to end users, do not purchase any handset just because it is simbian
phone. Unless, of course, you do want to test it out and send feedback to
nuance about what worked and what did not. With all probabilities Nuance
team would fix those problems. But it would take time and there also is a
risk if not many users purchase same handset then preference would be low to
get it in the supported list.

Hope this helps
Thanks
Dipendra

Ask on the talks list. Some one may have tried it there. I had a similar
situation with the Nokia e51. The talks release did not support it at the
time I bought it. However, Nuance were working on the support and the later
version of Talks did have that support.

Be warned though you may have to label some icons like those for unread
messages etc., on an unsupported phone.

Subject: [AI] Confusion in buying a handset....

Dear friends,

I am planning for buying a newly released Mobile handset Nokia 5320 witch is
Talks compatible according to me as it is based on series 60 and Simbian 9.3
Application.
There is a slight ambiguity in my mind about this handset because Nuance has
not listed it as yet on their list of compatible Mobile phones and I am not
been able to take any firm decision in terms of buying and using this
device.
Earlier, Nuance had listed Nokia N72 very late on the list but then N72 was
found well working with talks.
I will appreciate if members can put their view across and better suggest me
what to do.

Thanks,

Amit Bhatt
