1. Don't respond to any emails that ask you for details of your online account. If you think it is from the bank itself, call up their customer care and find out if they have sent out any mails asking to submit the account details (most probably, they wouldn't have sent any such communication).
2. Access your account only from your home PC. Yu must definitely avoid accessing your account from cyber cafes; not even from your friends or relatives place, since you don't know if the system contains any malware that may capture key strokes and pass on the details to someone who controls it without the knowledge of the user. 3. Keep changing pass words as frequently as possible; usually once in a week or ten days. If, for some reasons, you believe your account has been accessed without your knowledge, change the password immediately. Keep unusual page settings and note down the date time you have accessed the account. If details of date/time of your previous access is available on the site pl make a note of it. 4. Don't save the user name or password in any other PC's than the one you use at home. Even here, try keeping the file as discrete as possible. Importantly, delete such details (even from your email client), if you are giving your system for servicing. 5. The most important thing is to keep checking and eradicating trogens and malwares from your system. This may be easier said than done, but keep your anti-virus programmes up-to-date and if necessary, take the help of a service engineer to ensure your system is clean. Hi friends, I have just opened an NRI account with ICICI bank. Well, despite I am not the account holder, it's on someone else's name, but, I will be the one to access it. As I hear a lot about the crimes on the internet, I wanted to know, how safe is it to access the account online? Is there any precautionary measure or any safety guide lines, I can follow? Awaiting for your valuable advices and thanking you all in anticipation.
