hi subramani braille in different languages is based on the phoenetic intonation of the english language. the english letters are used to form the base of the vernacular vowels and consonants with some added dots for the extentions or matraas that is prevalant in the vernacular language. also, the vernacular braille or the bharatiya braille as it is called is open in script, meaning it has no abbreviations or short forms as is available in english braille.
as for the difference in writing the script or degree of difficulty, i think if a person is well versed with the english braille, they should not have too much trouble in writing the bharatiya braille. the few additions are not very difficult to adapt to. does it make any sense? ----- Original Message ----- From: "Subramani L" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Tuesday, December 16, 2008 9:14 PM Subject: [AI] braille in different languages Hai folks: I need information on how Braille scripts are different in different languages, how the writing pattern changes and how easy or difficult it is for a V I person to write the scripts?
