Exemption of Blind Employees -from Election Duty- regarding.
Sir.
I am directed to state that the National Federation of the Blind vide their
leuer No. NFB/MISC (42)/2008/929, dated 19-11-2008 has approached the Commission
with a request to exempt blind employees from election related duties.
In this connection your attention is invited to Commission's standing
instructions contained in its letter No. 458/4/98-PLN-IV, dated 30-10-1998
(Item No. 19 oi the Compendium) wherein it has been stated that " as far as
possible persons with disabilities as defined under " Persons with Disabilities
(Equal Opportunities Protection of Rights and Full Participation) Act, 1995,
should not be deployed for election duty".
The above instructions may be kept in mind for selection and deployment of
staff for election duty.
