Hi all, An urgent help is required for an engineering student from Indore studying computer science, college affiliated to Rajive Gandhi Prodyogiki vishwa vidyalaya. He is low vision and finds it difficult to read/write, and has his exams from 20th January tuesday. On hearing our radio show on wednesday, he called us to know how can he avail the facility of writer & extra time.
We have connected him to Arushi of Bhopal which last year in a different case could help a B.Com student avail extra time that too for writing exams himself. Hope their advocacy works this time as well. Also it would be good if we can get in touch with any engineering student who got these compensating facilities, and get the copy of relevant documents to show to this Indore based student's college/university. If you have any relevant info, pls get in touch with us ASAP. I am off to Pune on friday and won't be able to check mails till 21st jan, so pls write to us at [email protected]. Or call us on our office numbers, and you can talk to my colleagues Disha or Satguru. In the meantime the student has been advised to get his disability certificate made on friday, and we are also sending him the rules followed in other professional courses which he can use to sensitise & advocate for his right. At the moment he does not use any access technology, so the UGC circular allowing computers to write exams won't be of any use. I had read on AI about some blind student who had done engineering, any contacts with him might also help. Looking forward to your responses/ideas. thanks and regards, Pranay Gadodia | Programme Manager Project Eyeway - A comprehensive information helpdesk on eye & blindness C/o Score Foundation, Y-70, Lower Ground floor, Hauz Khas, New Delhi - 110 016.
