Hi,

Skim reading is meant for long documents. Though I haven't tried it on a PDF 
document, I believe that it might not be of any use.
PDF documents are generally divided into single pages if they are more than 50 
pages long. Though there is an option under Preferences to read even larger PDF 
documents as a single continuous one, it is often difficulte to process this.
