I have changed the subject line to reflect the true contents of this mail.

May be mockery is too strong a word for a company that seems to be making a
serious effort towards accessibility. They claim their computers come with
screen readers, but they never say they will be better, worse or at par with
Jaws or other screen readers.
Their Leopard comes with a screen reader that
makes all the mac programs accessible. After the correct settings, Leopard
is as good as Jaws as far as basic user functions are concerned. Where as
the "good" screen readers cost you around $1000, the entire operating system
for mac costs you around $150. Their products are little more expensive than
many other PC products, but the performance and durability compensates that
downside.

But for the welfare system in the US and Europe, and piracy, Jaws wouldn't be what it is now. People wanting to use screen readers would look for cheaper alternative, like Leopard. And with the proper feedback, Mac screen reader would become more user friendly.

This is no endorsement for any product, but just an alternative take on mac computers.

Thanks

That's actually the problem with Mac products. They make a mockery of
accessibility! they claim that their laptops are equipped with a screen
reader, but it is in no way close to JAWS or Windows eyes.

" iHear Dialer

iHear Dialer allows you to dial phone numbers without looking at the
keypad. As you move your hand around on the keypad, the dialer will
tell you what
number your finger is on and when you want that number, just release
your finger!

It was created with blind and visually impaired users in mind, but
it’s also great for anyone to dial a number without looking.

iHear Dialer allows you to:
- Dial phone numbers without looking at the keypad
- Dial your last 6 previous numbers (History tab)
- Choose between 2 voices (Alex & Jules)
- Display or remove hyphens as you dial numbers
- Use it anytime, anywhere...no connections required. "

although this, is no where near to a screen reader for smart phones,
still, accessibility is provided up to some extent.

please download the application or view more information at.
