i've been using this very popular micro blogging social networking site since last 3 months, and i've found it quite interesting so thought i'd share this with you all.
its called twitter. introduction taken from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Twitter what is twitter Twitter is a free social networking and micro-blogging service that enables its users to send and read other users' updates known as tweets. Tweets are text-based posts of up to 140 characters, displayed on the user's profile page and delivered to other users who have subscribed to them (known as followers). Senders can restrict delivery to those in their circle of friends or, by default, allow anybody to access them. Users can send and receive tweets via the Twitter website, Short Message Service (SMS) or external applications. The service is free to use over the Internet, but using SMS may incur phone service provider fees. Since its creation in 2006 by Jack Dorsey , Twitter has gained extensive notability and popularity worldwide. It is sometimes described as the "SMS of the Internet," my personal experience with twitter: due to various features, for example, images, video, extensive profiles, and zillion of options 1 would normally never uses, i've not liked social networking sites in particular. that may be because of its nested complex interface, extra and unwanted features, or need of opening the website to use all the time, and my busy schedule, all added up to me, creating accounts everywhere and hardly ever using them. i'm on orkut, facebook, myspace, and there are a few i even don't remember. what makes twitter better from my prospective is its simplicity. it just asks you 1 very simple question, " what are you doing?" and expects your answer to be precise with in the limits of 140 characters. there's no file shareing, fans, communities, and you don't need website window opened always to use it. you make a account at twitter, start following peoples, and whenever you post something, peoples who are following you can see your message. interface is simple, and then we have bunch of applications to use -- on your computer as well onn your mobile phone if you have internet/gprs activated on your mobile. to elaborate it further, here are few audio podcasts you can try to better understand and use twitter : Twitter From A Blindness Perspective 5/21/2009 Erin Edgar introduces Twitter including how to create an account, setting up your profile, and posting updates, then discusses conventions and accessibility, especially with the CAPTIA. 46.6 MB http://media.libsyn.com/media/bct/bct1355TwitterFromABlindnessPerspective.mp3 McTwit 5/6/2009 Rick Harmon demonstrates this accessible Twitter client from www.empowermentzone.com. 41.3 MB http://media.libsyn.com/media/bct/bct1352McTwit.mp3 Jibjib 3/13/2009 Simon Eigeldinger demonstrates this accessible twitter client that runs on Symbian smartphones from www.jibjib.org. 24.4 MB http://media.libsyn.com/media/bct/bct1331Jibjib.mp3 and after all this, if you're signing up for twitter, please follow ruchirfalodiya that's of corse me. regards, ruchir. -- As long as forever, I will stay by your side, I'll be your companion, Your friend and your guide!!! www.ruchir89.wordpress.com To unsubscribe send a message to accessindia-requ...@accessindia.org.in with the subject unsubscribe.
