Rajesh, I am glad you accept that you are passive. What stops people like you from taking out the agitation. You are so talented why not use your pen. Get the people around you to get together for a rally. I have heard you speak and I know you can motivate. Why not start something which we can all join. Something like the dharna I had planned against Nasscom and so many accessindians had agreed to be there.

Please do not compare priorities if someone wants to fight DGCA let them. do not think that one is more than the other. We all have the right to choose our battles.

Last week in response to my email on the Database someone did tell me that we should be fighting against the coins problem rather than wasting money on a database. . Why could not that person take up the challenge himself and fight against the coins issue and let me choose my battle. Why does everyone think that others are there to fight these battles.Lets fight them for ourselves and for the benfit of others.

I chose to fight the NSDL or the Banks problem no one forced me to do them.
On the coins issue I had written a mail about a month ago. After that there was complete silence because everyone realised that they did not want to take the lead. Yes the railways is a problem. I am going to take up about 3 of those many problems after I finish some basic work on the database and on the scribes issue. Also the problems of the physiotherapist need to be looked into urgently. Until I do something you can do a lot.
I hope you and everyone here does do something.

I also had a similar experience, I was traveling from Dheradun to Delhi, and
the railway police allowed 2 persons to get into the coach. They were
allotted seats against some amount which they paid to security personals.
When I requested one of the security personal to vacate a birth for me so
that I can sleep. He said that there is no birth vacant in the compartment. And that was the time when I entered into a debate with them, as I was aware
about actual facts.

Normally there are 4 births in the Disabled coach out of which 2 births were
occupied by those sighted persons and one by the 2 security personals, and
one birth by me and my escort.

I started by requesting sighted person to change their coach, as this coach
is reserved for Disabled travelers. The police personals started defending
them as they were bribed for allotting births.

After a long debate with those 4 persons they finally vacated the coach at
haridwar, and we managed to get our due rights.

There are many changes that are required to be brought in the system of
railways ranging from getting reservation done to traveling, to make the
traveling of disabled persons convenient.

Thanks
Rahul Gambhir

All these absurd problems with disability sector are because we have lost
ability to give a fight.
Has there been any rally to voice all these issues?
Has anybody undertaken a fast to ventilate all such issues?
Has anybody assassinated a prominent personality because disability issues
were not taken cognizance of?

Millions and millions of disabled continue to live like ants, being trod
upon by so-called normal individuals daily.
Abusing in the name of caste is a cognizable offence, is it so in the name
of disability?
No. have you wondered, why?
Pick up a fight with anybody, and the first explative will be in the name
of your disability...

Establishments not reserving posts, not giving their due to deserving
candidates, not giving any work even after appointment, constantly torturing
disabled employees for not performing according to prevailing norms and
procedures, Not allowing use of disabled hoach in the trains peacefully,
declaring totally blind unfit for any job and so on and so on, all these are indignities which we are bearing in the name of civilization. Courts are not
a panacea, and are more of problem creators than solvers.

Now, giving one more example, I was threatened by none other than assistant security officer of our bank that he would not allow my autorikshaw to come
till my flat's door to pick me up and drop me and I should board it my
outside colony gate.
Mind you, dispute between us was concerning something else, and he brought
this issue as an example.
Now, do you think it is decent behaviour?
And, now, what can I hope for by invoking available remedies?

The point in question is indignities metted out to the person on account of
disability and our utter inability to undertake any fruitful action.
This handicapped compartment issue is also here for ages, since they were
introduced in railways.
Almost all of us have suffered from it.
But, we are more concerned with DGCA issuing guidelines for independent
travel of disable air passengers than a disabled person being able to
undertake convenient journey rightfully in railways.

UGC compandium of circulars is one more example.
So is arbitrariness in issuing railway concession tickets by ER clerks.
So, formal and informal victimization of the disabled is a fact of life.
We must, protest, at least by employing all available means against such an
indignified life.
Judiciary, executive consultations etc. can, to some extent, mitigate the
issues. Public agitation is also one of the potent means, but is easier said
than done.
Mind you, I too perceive myself as one of the passive viewers/victims of
this foolish process of humanity.

Regards
Rajesh
