The Veresk Foundation in the Russian Federation has developed a device called a Tactile Substitution for Human Vision [TSV] that allows blind people to recognize objects without direct touch and to find one’s way in a closed space. It differs from other artificial systems in its new method of coding and transmitting electrical signals. In response to many letters from blind people the Foundation has decided to donate some trial TSV sets to voluntary organizations in different countries, to further research and to promote the device. The Foundation is raising funds to manufacture and distribute the devices to these blindness organizations.
