The Veresk Foundation in the Russian Federation has developed a
device called a Tactile Substitution for Human Vision [TSV] that
allows blind people to recognize objects without direct touch and to
find one’s way in a closed space. It differs from other artificial
systems in its new method of coding and transmitting electrical
signals.
  In response to many letters from blind people the Foundation has
decided to donate some trial TSV sets to voluntary organizations in
different countries, to further research and to promote the device.
The Foundation is raising funds to manufacture and distribute the
