With the amount of research going on, there is no reason why we
shouldn't be optimistic.

Once upon a time, there was large criticism in the American senate
when additional funds were proposed to be allotted to the project of
making the first airplane fly saying that there is no way in this
world that man can fly.  But just months after that, Right brothers
made it possible shutting all those mouths once for all.

Moreover, we are not stopping all our works and looking up into the
sky, or relying on a magic wand to do the job for us.

So, there is nothing wrong in having a strong possitive hope.
Personally, I'm confident that a treatment would be found for RP or
for any disease for that matter, if not for us, atleast for the next
generation.
