Many of the AI members mark cc or just reply to the personal ID of the replier for the mail they got on the list. Marking CC is some what done for the sake of letting your mail fall in the inbox of the user directly rather than being sorted out as mailing list thread to which I am little uncomfortable. Secondly, directly replying to the mail is not justified as the channel of communication is a public forum and the conversation may prove helpful to many silent listener on the list too.
