Ask the author for the document saved in editable format. I have been down this road and it is the only solution I have been able to find.

Important query for me: I have got a book scanned and it was saved as exact copy. So, now it reads as section 1, section 2, followed by a page number. But, there is some information in section one, then in two, and so on. So, how to read it properly? Is it something like news paper concept left and right I guess. How do we read such things!
