Regional and Language Options

Make sure that you have the windows xp cd for implementing the

following steps:

1. Go to Control Panel / Regional and Language Options and press

ctrl+tab for accessing Languages page.

2. On this page check the checkbox Install files for complex script and

right-to-left languages (including Thai). A window will pop up asking

for confirmation. Press the ok button for confirmation.

3. Activate the apply button and insert the windows xp cd for copying

files. Activate the yes button for the changes to take effect.

4. After windows restarts, go to Control Panel / Regional and Language

Options and press ctrl+tab for accessing Languages page. Then activate

the Text Services and Input Languages details button.

5. It will bring up the Test Services and Input Languages dialogue box.

Activate the Add button.

6. In the next dialogue box the first combo box is for Input languages.

Select Hindi here. Tab over to the Keyboard layout/Ime combo box and

select Devanagari or Hindi Traditional. Hindi Traditional is the

default choice. Activate the ok button.

7. It will return to the previous dialogue box. Activate the ok buttons

subsequently for closing the Regional and Languages Options dialogue

box.

Now you are ready for Hindi input. Open any application and press

alt+shift for changing the input language to Hindi. You can return to

English US any time by using the same alt+shift key combination.
