well, that is because, outlook express tries to receive message as soon as you open outlook express. and if your internet or your email settings were not set up, then you'll get that message, an error occured... so, you can disable that automatically receiving messages at start by going to tools menu, options, general, and choosing the option, do not receive emails at start up or something like that. if you need the exactly words, let me know. regards Samuel
