Also, support to XP is being gradually faced out and henceforth it is not a good idea to downgrade.

instead of downgrading to XP 32 bit upgrading to windows 7 32 bit
might be a good option. as windows 7 comes with virtualisation
features to run as X.P for some programs so there might not be
backward compatibility issues.

these are my personal opinions only.

Definitely finding the right drives would be a problem. The technically

lose a few features; in my case, there has been some problem in
installing the WiFi port. I am still unable to set it right.

Folks!!

I have a HP mini notebook which was originally preloaded with Windows
Vista. I subsequently downgraded to Windows XP and it seems to be
functioning alright. Now... Since I have an RC copy of Windows 7, I have
been thinking to upgrade the system to the new OS. What are your
suggestions, what would be the challenges? IS it worthtrying in the
first place?

suggest you to go with dell studio 15 as it gives 4 gb of ram and 500
gb of hard drive with 2.2 GHZ core 2 processor with a free 512 MB ATI
graphic card. having blue tooth 570 module with a
5, 100 y5 connector. by default. i suggest you to go with 9cell
battery for more backup. if you can, take the three years complete
cover which protects your notebook from accidental damages. if you
would like further customization get the 2.53 GHZ processor which
will further costs you Rs. 4000 change.

dell comes with on sight service which wont be provided by any other
laptop which would be a added advantage.

these are my personal opinions and correct me if i am wrong.

hi, the sound quality of XPS is good. My friend is using XPS m1330 it
looks good and not much high. further we can install XP and vista
both also as duel boot but u need to enable Ide mode in BIOS for sata
hard drives to be detected otherwise the error screen appears as it
could not detect the hard drive. if you are newly purchasing go for
windows 7 after 22nd of this month as it is excellent in my opinion.

Hi Shikher,

It is certainly possible to install Windows XP on XPS Studio
machines. I
am
currently using one. However, Dell sells these machines with Windows
Vista
preinstalled. I had to uninstall Vista and downgrade it to XP, and
in the
process had a host of problems finding suitable drivers.

If you do decide to buy an XP Studio machine with Vista and decide
to
downgrade, please contact me if you need help with locating drivers.
