hi, it does not destroy X.P at all if you install in a different drive. you need to perform a clean install in a different drive using custom and not a upgrade install. the only problem is that microsoft says: " when you are using a upgrade version and when you install windows 7 on your previous installation of windows your previous license will be lost. there shall not be any problem if you purchase a full retail version and not a upgrade version.
