My position on NGOs is that as long as they do not use oppressed
groups as mere spectators, some considerations should be given. One
does not need to agree or disagree with everything of any given
organization. But as long as I am allowed to share a slice of the
cake, I don?t care who bakes it. By the term ?I?, I mean collectively
as a group. Finally I am not sure how the NFB in India is, but it is
at least a bit solid here and has been involved with some crucial
battles. But of course I disagree with them in several ways. For
example, they make worst canes and I do not understand the reason
behind that. So in a nut shell, No NGO is absolutely perfect and they
are not innocent either.

I reiterate that national federation of the blind is plagued by
in-fighting
and it is reflecting very poorly not only on the public image of
the blind
but is also sacrificing the resources meant for bringing about
some good.
I suggest that if NFB members and officials have got so much of
aggression
in themselves, why not use it constructively for organizing some
really
powerful demonstrations to jolt governments into action?
Anyway, NGOs are not holy cows to be venerated merely because they
are
NGOs.
Rather they are public bodies utilizing donations from the public
and
government grants in certain cases, and must be made accountable
for what
they do or do not do.

Subject: [AI] Commenting about NGO's
Hello All
We had decided in an earlier instance that we shall not comment on
the
working of any NGO's. In this context, we shall restrain from
commenting
about NFB which is getting focused in some postings.
Members please take note.

This was posted on The Accessable blind phones list and I didn't
see it
come across this list.
So you can go to the following link on your phone to get the new
Skype. I
have installed it on my N95 dash 3 and it works very nicely. You
will need
to remove the old beta one before you install this new version.
This is
not a beta. They also suggest that you install it to pone memory.
This
link should work on your phone as well as your PC. This is for all
3rd
Edition phones like the N82, N95*, E66, E51, E71, N85, N86 etc...
Please
do not ask will it work on phones that aren't listed here! Just
download
it and give it a try. I didn't list all the phone! I just gave some
examples of phones. As long as you have a 3rd Edition phone, you
should
have good luch. This will not work on old 2nd Edition phones like
the N70,
N90 or any other 2nd Edition phone. Yes the 668* are 2nd Edition
phones as
well.

Hi,
Are you telling me that the Shatabhdi has a system where stations are
announced via bluetooth or sms? They do have a PA system.
My comment was relating to the mounting of a bluetooth based system.

Hi,
What kind of information? I saw one from Plustek yesterday at Tech

Most of these machines have a scanner and in-built OCR.

My query is:
Whether using Skype on a phone and conversing would be cheaper than
simply calling her/him?
At present, for example, BSNL prepaid GPRS costs around RS. 5 per MB.
Does Skype work effectively on GPRS connectivity?
