hello everyone,
I would request learned members to kindly read and respond this e-mail
soon as it is possible.
I had been invited as a representative of disable persons in a
national conference on e governance going to be held on 18th and 19th
of feb here in jaipur. the theam of the conference is e governance
from the perspective of citizens.
-introduction from the brochure:

e-Governance presents challenges and opportunities to transform both
the mechanics of government, and the nature of governance itself. The
big challenges are not technological but cultural. The National
Conference on e-Governance has been providing a platform of meaningful
interaction to policy makers, practitioners, industry leaders and
academicians to deliberate, interact and recommend an actionable
strategy for good governance and to improve the standard of services
rendered to the common man.

Today, India is emerging as an economic tiger, inspite of the global
meltdown, but this growth is meaningless till the time it is
inclusive, sustainable and encompasses the poorest of the poor. In
this scenario, the 13th National Conference on e-Governance based on
the theme “e-Governance from Citizens perspective” , will explore how
use of ICT has transformed governance from the perspective of the
beneficiaries of the services. It is an attempt at a reality check to
ascertain the outcome of the services rendered and whether it has
achieved the intended objectives of transparent, effective, responsive
and accountable system of governance.
The Organizers:

Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances

  Department of Information Technology

Department of Information Technology & Communication, Government of
Rajasthan

In this context, I’d like to take some suggestions about what are the
core issues in e governance from the perspective of disable citizens.
So, the members are requested to kindly convey their suggestions soon
as possible so that I can put forth them to the government officials
who’ll be present there.

I know that the notice is pretty short and I could have informed it
earlier, but unfortunately, I’ve got the invitation letter yesterday
only, so kindly excuse and co-operate with me.
There are going to be several sessions to discuss various issues in e
governance.
Following is a list of sessions which are going to be held in two days
(18th and 19th of feb).
1. e governance from the citizon’s perspective.
2. Leveraging mobile technology for better service delivery including
financial inclusion through mobile technology
3. Public Distribution System (Direct access to the citizens through
e-Governance)
4.
ICT in education - enhancing quality and reach

I know there are several important issues like inaccessible government
websites, feeble participation of disable persons in government
matters, inaccessibility of mobile technology, role of ICT in
education of the disables, etc.

I’d like to know from the learned members that what are the most
important issues to raise out of them?
What should be the focus areas while discussing in behalf of disable community?

Since the conference is going to be held from 3:00 onwards today, I’d
appreciate the members to kindly convey their suggestions soon as it
is possible for them so that they can be presented on right time.
I won’t be having the access of e-mail wwhile in the conference.
Kindly call on my mobile if there’s anything important to discuss on
the context. Though,I’ll try to check e-mails before leaving.
Would waite for your quick and favorable responses.
regards,
Prateek agarwal.
