Dear Sir, I think it is better to go for a laptop with 4 GB RAM and also an expandable slot of 8 GB RAM. Primarily 2 GB might be sufficient today but may become obsolete in 6 months time when Office 2010 or higher is launched. Also one / two years down the line, Microsoft may come out with a new OS which require 4 - 8 GB RAM. Unlike desktops, it is not possible to feedle with configuration of laptop due to space constraint. Hard disks can be supplemented from outside using external hard drives but external RAMs are not in vogue. Further I expect a laptop to remain functional for a minimum of 4 - 6 years before planning to buy a new one.
