Dear friends, Last Saturday, I got a chance to see the demo of Angel at our office i.e. XRCVC, Mumbai.
Following are my findings with Angel Voice Recorder, Radio and Daisy Player. About the unit It is manufactured by some Israeli company but no label found on the unit of its manufacturer or even model no., etc. Black color unit. Top front side you have a big round speaker (around 2 inch diameter). Bottom half portion you have all the keys. Left and right side each 5 keys and center a big key OK surrounded by 4 keys at top, bottom, left and right position. Has stand. Not a pocket size unit. Has aerial for radio reception Head phone or mike can be used. Has small display where it shows time and other messages. Volume control keys are on right side of the unit Size is around 2 x 5 inches. Have keys like on the left hand side Settings Escape Delete Repeat Similarly there are 5 keys on the right hand side. Voice output. Each key is spoken. TTS engine or default voice is clearly understandable but has little different accent. Default voice is male or you can choose female (it has choices like man or woman) Memory You can select internal memory or external SD card. Any new SD card gets formatted to Angel’s file structure and you get 4 different folders like dtbook, music, recordings and ebook. Internal memory of 2 GB and extended SD card memory upto 32 GB Battery Single mobile battery is used. Charging is through USB connection. The power plug with USB connection is available or one can connect it to the compute for the charging purpose. Battery life is 15 hours once full charged. Playback Ebook You can open .txt and .html files on angel. While reading e-book speed can be adjusted. For e-book reading - Navigation of text you have two settings 10 pages or 100 pages. 10 pages means paragraph mode and 100 pages means page wise. Audio Very good and loud sound when played a music file. An audio file can be forwarded or rewind (5 second for each key press) press continuously for fast forward / rewind. DAISY Not really got chance to test as it took very long time for it to load our book write right and in that process it hung, Voice recording Voice recording is 35 hours of continuous recording Recording can be paused and start. Radio Radio tuning – auto search option AM / SW and FM channels Player remembers the last position. in audio file or in text file. Can place bookmarks – total 32 bookmarks available for the whole unit and 3 per file. Help No help mode is available. Files transfer Files can be transferred through pc. The problem found is that time taken to transfer files (daisy / audio) was a bit more than regular transfer time. Found file initializing message on the display but not spoken. When we tried to load a big file. It announces file name and size. You have info key to know where you are in which menu, etc. and also a quick access key. There is a separate key for start record but one first needs to go into record menu. It is not like if you press anytime this key it will start recording.
