Pune:

In what could be an interesting achievement, Sanjay Jain, a
visually-impaired lecturer with the Indian Law Society’s Law College,
recently received a doctorate degree, which he pursued under the guide
who is also visually-challenged.
Jain claims that this is a first-of-its kind where two
visually-challenged persons were involved in PhD work.
What makes the PhD all the more special for Jain is that his thesis
titled — ‘Taking Women Seriously - A Critical Inquiry into the
Changing Parameters of Judicial Review and Perspectives on Protection
and Enforcement of Rights of Women with Special Reference to
Constitution of India’ — looks relevant as the Rajya Sabha just
cleared the Women Reservation Bill.
Jain has received the PhD from Rashtriya Sant Tukdoji Maharaj (RSTM)
University, Nagpur. His guide Shirish Deshpande is head of the law
department in the same university.
