Palace gets a new tour guide

BANGALORE: The first multi-lingual audio tour guide in Karnataka was
launched at the Bangalore Palace on Monday to provide quality
information to tourists
visiting the palace.

The audio tour guides are small light weight MP 3 audio players with
headsets and is available in seven languages — Kannada, Hindi,
English, Italian, French,
Spanish and German. These audio guides have been produced by
Narrowcasters who are the largest audio guide services provider in the
Asia-Pacific.

The Scion of Mysore Royal family Srikanta Datta Narasimharaja Wadiyar
and the founder and executive director of Narrowcasters India Penelope
Street launched
the tour guide.

“Many visitors come to enrich themselves with our unique heritage.
These audio guides would help them understand and appreciate the
collections and history
better,” Mr. Wadiyar said.

“An audio tour gives the visitor a well researched and precise account
of the historical and cultural background of the site, making it
informative and
fun,” Ms. Penelope Street added.

This guide has a recorded script giving a description of the artefacts.
