Respected Sir,
Just curious to know, that if it would have been pop, then won't the port numbers be like that of desktop email clients? Say incoming 995 and outgoing 465 as how generally we configure our pop clients with these port numbers?
Just asking out of curiosity.
Regards,
Amar Jain.

Hi All,

I am sure that the procedure explained is correct except that the server
type is POP3, also it should work with Imap, there is a settings page in the
web version of the Gmail where one need to enable POP forwarding / IMAP
forwarding. I am sure that once the settings are enabled in the Gmail
Website this problem should not arise. You can change this option once we
are logged in the Gmail Account settings on the webversion.

Thanks and Regards,

Dear Amar
Even after meticulously following all your suggested settings, my N82 gives
the message: incoming mail server not found.
Any suggestions, please?
Rajesh

Dear Bhavesh Bhaiya,
If you have gprs activated, then you can configure gmail in your cell.
For that, go to your messaging option or if you have newer handset then look
for setup wizard in tools.
The configurations are as follows:
Mailbox type: Imap.
Incoming Mail Server: imap.gmail.com
Outgoing mail server: smtp.gmail.com
Once you have done with the normal email wizard, then go to connection
settings of your gmail.
There, make sure:
Under incoming settings you have to select:
security (ports) 'Ssl/TLS'.
Under outgoing settings you have to select:
Security (ports): start tls.
Where it says port default, change it to user defined and put 587 in the
text box.
Configure all rest of the settings such as user name and password etc.
Regards
Amar Jain.
