Hi there. There is flat review (insert+numpad7) apart from Object
navigation in NVDA that is quite close to the JAWS cursor. Activating
the flat review, you can use the numpad keys (7-9 for the previous,
current and next line, 4-6 in the same order for words, and 1, 2 and 3
for characters.)

pointer speed. Then you can slowly move the mouse pointer in different

Sorry, I accidentally pressed the enter key. I've successfully viewed
the file properties dialogue box, for example, using flat review. For
those who find the concept of object navigation confusing-admittedly,
I'm one of them-you can go to the following webpage:

Hi all,
I?ve been following this thread from quite some days and thought to
put forth my views as well.
There has been quite a lot of discussion on whether or not this should
have been brought on the list. According to me, experiences like this
should be brought publicly, so that it can assist others to know the
realities better.
I have never got a chance to get associated with sarthak, hence I have
no information and views against this case.

I respect the views of The gentlemen who?ve shared their views against
it and at least brought their heart out. I agree that these may not
necessarily be true, but I?ve surely got an impression that there
certainly were things which could have been better then what they were
during the fair.

We all know that sarthak and many other NGOs are putting their hard
efforts to improve the lives of blind and visually impaired people,
which is really commendable.
However, unfortunately, at the same time there are some NGOs who take
this activity as a donation snatching exercise.
In this scenario its good to know different good and bad experiences
about these organizations and since a large number of learned
community mates are found on this list, I don?t see it wrong to share
such experiences until they are conveyed with pure and true spirits.

Since many of our learned community mates don?t get chance to attend
the placement events organized by colleges and educational institutes,
job fairs like these are really so useful in order to provide
employment.
I?m really so glad to know that organizations like sarthak, enable
India etc are working incredibly in this field for which I?d like to
wholeheartedly congratulate them for their magnanimous services.

In my opinion, we as disable candidates as well wil have to change our
attitudes and have to realize that if by any reason we could not be
selected for a job, it might not always be a fault of placement
agency.
There are a number of factors, skillset and things required in order
to get a job, hence we should genuinely analyze ourselves before
making any notion about company or any external placement agency.

The competition in the job market is mounting every next moment, and
it?s a matter of fact that just apart from talent and right skill set,
we are required to pass attitudinal barriers as well in order to get a
job.
NGOs are playing extremely important role in this direction and I
highly regard their efforts in sensitizing, educating, lobbying and
motivating companies and corporate houses.
We all should not only respect their hard efforts, but try to help
them as well wherever possible. After all, it?s a collective
responsibility of all of us to improve the lives of our community
mates and engender a more smart and self dependent society.

Here, I truly understand the concerns of people who have attended the
fairs like these and could not get jobs.
The reasons could be many and can be from both the ends I.E. their own
skill set/attitudes or placement agency/company specific, hence here
are certain things which I?d like to suggest to these NGOs who are
working in the field of employment for disable people.

1. while organize any job fair or placemen related event, please try
to gather maximum possible information from the participating
companies about current openings and qualifications which are they are
looking for them.
2. any advertise about such events should be made in accordance to the
information you have seeked from the participating companies, so that
it can be insured that only the people with required skillset are
being called and not others.
3. after the fair is over, it can be really helpful if you could
public a list of selected candidates. This not only increases the
reputation and respect for your organization, but also motivates other
companies as well as disable candidates to participate and benefit
from such events.
By doing this, where people who could not get job can better analyse
the reasons of their failure, it would also help your organization to
diminish these sort of criticisms.
In this respect, I?m aware that this practice is not followed by
mainstream placement companies, but we should understand that we as
disable people are a close group of people, hence tcertain
alterations in methods may greatly transform the attitudes and
situations.

I?d like to express apologies for anything that you might have not
found adequatt, I hereby confirm that all the views above belongs only
to me and do not present the opinions of any other
person/organization.

I truly respect the sincere efforts of all the NGOs and would like to
wish them best of luck.

Prateek agarwal.

Hi Friends,

It is rightly stated that accusing all the NGOs of wrongdoing is
inappropriate. They are the only bridge between disabled community and the
increasingly hostile corporate world. I myself have seen that NGOs carry out their work with a very low budget, while people think that they are bagging
huge sums.

The points lucidly highlighted here were that things should be done
professionally and transparently. If you send a person somewhere for the
interview, at least he should get a chance to be interviewed, no matter
whether he possesses the skills of clearing the interview or not. It should
never happen that the interviewers are clueless about the candidates. Nor
the candidates should get wrong or incomplete information.

But, even after reoccurrence of all this, if the candidate is being ordered
to be quiet and treated ill, isn't it unfair and remote from
professionalism?

I am afraid by questioning the credibility of all the NGOs the topic here
has lost its direction.

Mr Karan Gupta, it is good that your experience in the job fair was
excellent. You have played a key role in positioning Sarthak wherever it
presently is. Nice to learn that you are satisfied with your handiwork.

Shadab

Hi,

Agree with you all. But when a candidate hasn't got the required
qualifications for the jobs the company has announced, the candidate
should not be called at all, instead of calling him just to increase
the strength of the attendance.

I am not talking about the current case, as I know nothing about it.
But I attended a job fair for disabled at Delhi, going all the way
from Tirupati, in 2008 where my experience was not that great. I
clearly wrote in my resume that I am working as a lecturer and my
academics are in finance and marketing.

I was given a list of companies whose interviews I can attend.

1. One company said they are not looking for people from teaching
background.

2. Another company said they don't have anyone from finance
department to take my interview.

3. Third company said I was over qualified for the job they have announced.

4. Fourth company said they don't have any openings in finance field.

Besides, there were a few big MNCs who conducted exams for some posts.
When I told them that I wanted a scribe, they told me that I need not
write the exam. I thought they exempted me from writing the exam, but
later came to know that they exempted me from the recruitment.

I totally accept with all the companies. But my only concern was
that, had I been told all this before hand, I wouldn't have gone all
the way from Tirupati to Delhi.

And I totally accept that, any criticism, whether bear or
constructive, should be directed to the concerned parties and not on
public platforms.

Dear Friends,

I do know that employment is a major concern for all of us visually

I
would appreciate the efforts of the NGOs who have taken on the challenge.
We
must realise that NGOs are spending a lot of their time and resources
sensitising, lobbying and negotiating on our behalf for jobs in the
private
sector. The battle is against a formidable mindset, the task is by no
means
easy. Further, we must realise that NGOs contrary to popular perceptions,
work with very limited budgets. My experience tells me that we need to be
patient and see what we could do to alter the situation on our part. The
questions to ask ourselves are whether we are well prepared to take on
interviews, whether our language skills are good enough for the Corporate
World, whether our qualifications are right and whether we are good enough
to take on the competition? Remember that the Corporates have several
choices.

Hence, I do not think it is a great idea to resort to NGO bashing if we
are
not finding employment. On the other hand I would focus on self
development
and try and cooperate with the NGOs who are fighting for my cause. Yes, we
all have the right to be disappointed but let us not criticise and crib
about efforts put in by people who are part of our own team. Hope all of
you
would take this mail in the right spirit.

1. After clicking on mail merge option from tools menu, I select
letters/starting document.
2. I select currant document and recepient link.
3. I choose type a new llist and create ..link, because I want to
make new list from document itself.
4. I feel details of Address page which I want, then click on close button.
5. I save this file of new details.
6. Now after checking all details of address, I click on ok button.
7. Now Problems are started.
8. I can not understand in which programme of Ms office this new/save
file is openned.
9. My friend explains after saving a new file, mail merge's tool bar
is displayed on screen, but how can i reach at that tool bar? Jaws or
pc cursur are unable to reach there, so I can not work ahead.

Guide me for my queries.
Thanks.

Hello All,

I need to know if NVDA works exactly the same as jaws in terms of
stability and accessibility with windows OS.Software should be certified
to use in company environment as information security come into place.
Individual use can have any screen reader but for company ,a good
certified and tested software is required to run on various application.
Please give
any suggestion for reasonably priced software for company use.

Cheers,

Pankaj .
