Hello list

I would be very happy to talk to persons in engineering side with visual
impairment . Specially those who have taken up jobs in IT sector .
My medical report says more than 70% vision loss. Also I am not able to read
the first letter during distant eye testing.in one of my reports it is
mentioned I am suffering with stargarts I think you would know about
"Stargarts'(or whatever spelling it is).My vision in dim light is not very
encouraging.
I wanted to be an Engineer and it is not a big deal as non-engineering side
students think.Of ccourse you have to visualize things and I don't know
whether complete blind can pursue it or not. I am not able to see the
blackboard and I am used to it now for so many years.I am not very vocal
about my problem to every teacher. I just make out what they are teaching
from their speech(whatever they speak according to their normal teaching
style). There were some physics practical which were to be performed alone
(not in groups) in final examination or there was a workshop where we had
to do welding or fitting to accurate sizes.
It was tough for me to clear drawings papers .You need a lot of accuracy and
focus to draw engineering drawing. My father helped me to complete my
assignments of drawing and I did fairly well myself in exams .
Now the big challenge for me to get a placement and a handsome one. As
placement season will start from July this year for my batch.I had hard luck
for internship companies but it was more due to me lacking in quantative and
programming side. I couldn't clear any writtens. I want some points for the
interviewer for when I reach there to tell them about my problem and how
shall I cope with it. Your help in this regard willl be helpful

Thanks
Ayush Bhutani
