Dear Mahesh I am glad that you have raised this vital topic. In Maharashtra the doors for new jobs and promotion would open up in state government and it would be pretty huge.
The important issue is that do we have sufficient trained persons who are well versed using access technology to take it up? The answer I am afraid is a pathetic no. This is a scary scenario as all the efforts put for this would go down the drain. It is not only important for NGO's to take up providing computer skills to the blind in a big way, at the same time it is important we make each and every blind person realise the importance in taking up training in this field. Moreover, it is also necessary to learn it in the right earnest. We the blind should demand from all NGO's to impart computer skill training and that to of quality standards. This is a huge challenge and all need to pitch in. Finally, time factor is just important as it would take some time to put things together and be ready for the call. I estimate things should take shape in about 6 months and if we look at it optimistically too, time is really running out. Harish Kotian. From: mahesh bhagwat <[email protected]> Subject: Re: [AI] Maharashta litigation Respected access indians getting promotion is major expectation from the able visually challanged community of the Maharashtra. Many people who are restlessly waiting for promotion since long time of five to seven year are expecting that they could be promoted as a clerk very soon due to that perticular judgement. The issue of denied promotion should be rais in next hearing of these cases. The reason for that is the junior sighted persons are promoted but totally blind employees are not promoted though they are proffessionally able and sinior but niglected due to there totally blindness. proper management is needed for the training in computer operating. In Maharashtra proper computer training is not available except Mumbai and Pune. one another thing is that the government aided n.g.o.,s educational institute and colleges are not serious for implimentation for the reservation of blind. they should be inspired and bounded for that. Many net set passed, b.ed. and music visharad blind persons in Maharashtra are waiting for there rehablitation. Please look in these all matter. thanking you, Mahesh.
