Usually you'll have to produce form no: 10I A signed by a government medical practitioner as a supporting document, but as there is no mention of "visually impaired" or "blindness" in this form, some doctors may not agree to sign it. You should therefore discuss with your employer/income tax official to accept the disability certificate issued by the recognized government eye hospital instead of form 10 I A as a proof. If you ask me " in Sec 80 U they've clearly mentioned the word "blindness", but why not in the form no: 10 IA?",...,... um... well I too don't have any answers for that... join the club.
