Hello all Many blind persons need to use Indian language scripts. There are 2 main problems for using it with the screen readers.
1 The text is created in a non Unicode font as a result we need a Unicode font for screen readers to speak it out. 2 We need a text to speech synthesizer to make the text talk. For both these problemswe have Mr. Raju who is our member who will help us out. I shall give his email Id later in this mail. We need to do the following: 1 Identify which is the most widely font for that language. 2 Cordinate with Mr. Raju to develop a convertor for that language. 3 Volunteer to help make the TTS for that language. Even blind person can do it and similarly it has been done by blind volunteers for Tamil, Kanadda, Telugu and Gujarati languages. Knowledge of programming is not required for this task. The speech engine is E-speak. The email id for Mr. Raju is: [email protected] This is a good opportunity to help ourselves.
