Subject: Re: [AI] Share census experience
Hi Vasu
1. Pick up all the emails from accessindia.
2. I am not sure that all of us will visit the blog. I still feel that
writing on the email is easier than going on to someone's blog. I am bad
in
technology and I am sure there are many like me.
3. Wait for people like me who havent had a census enumerator visit my
house
as yet.
4. Also observe that in the States where there are active Disabled Rights
Groups and networks, like Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu, the experience
has
been better.
5. Write to the Census Commissioner Chandra Moiley
and of course
6. please share it with Javed Abidi. He and his group had to go to Court
in
2001 so that we could get counted and he has been discussing this matter
since 2009. Also he did organise a 2 day meeting on the question,
training
etc as early as March 2010. after this March discussion several groups
got
organised and National level and state level training was undertaken.
We got to thank Javed that atleast in most of our cases the enumerator
did
ask the question with a little prodding.
There are many who havent realised the importance of Census and all I can
say is that however much others fight for your cause, the change will
come
when you yourself start.
