Dear all, As you might know late Mr. Lal Advani who was incidentally blind, is known as the father of modern rehabilitation services for the disabled in India. A memorial lecture series on disability related issues has been launched to cherish his legacy. So far the lecture has been delivered by leading figures in the field of disability who include Dr. Uma Tuli (former CCD) Major General Cardozo (chair person, RCI) Ms Anuradha Mohit (director NIVH) Professor Amita Dhanda (law professor at NALSAR) etc. This year the lecture is being delivered by Dr. Maya Thomas from Bangalore and will be chaired by the pro-vice-chancellor of Delhi University. Dr. Thomas is a leading scholar and activist in the field of disability in India and has held numerous assignments in Asia, Europe and Africa. She is currently editing the "disability, CBR and inclusive development journal" and will be speaking on "reflections on community based rehabilitation for the disabled in India". The lecture is open to all and will take place at 10.30 in the conference Center, in the campus of Delhi University on 26 April. Please feel free to contact me if you need further information.
