I found something , maybe of use to you.
1. Press Fn-DownArrow (type several times) will lower the backlight.
That's
a major source of power drain can of use.
2. Use software to turn off screen , link is

It is Application Name: Turn Off LCD v1.0 ,Compatibile with Win Vista &
Size: 85 kb (.exe) and 68.5 kb (.zip).
Pl check with some good antivirus/ Antimalware software before
installing.
I have not used this software but can give try.
3. Use other software for same use. MonitorES - Monitor Energy Saver
v1.0.1b

It Works with for Windows XP/Vista/7.

some function key (I don't remember exactly which one) affects brightness
