Subject: [AI] Railways concession

This is with reference to the discussion last week. OK folks, We have to start
one more fight.
Yes there is no concession for the visually challenged on Shatabdi and Rajdani
at present. Tried reaching the top and got a negative response. Was told to ask
organisations to write demanding the concession. They will look at it if there
is some requests.
This denial of concession is because
the wrong term "physically disabled" was used in the budget speech by the
Minister
a. This may have been done intentionally so as to restrict the concessions to
the orthopedically challenged or
b. Inadvertently using "physically" to cover all the disabilities which do not
include the mentally challenged. This is done very often .
Whatever the reason, we have a problem.
1. Please someone copy the exact paragraph from the railway budget and post it
here on both the lists.
2. Please post the snail mail and email addresses of
a. Mamta banerjee
b. Vivek Sahay the Railway Board Chairman
c. The 3 ministers of State for Railways
d. The Pm since he is directly looking after railways until a cabinet minister
is appointed.

3. Whatever line you want to take, either telling them that there has been a
mistake in use of the wrong word or the interpretation of the word, the
visually challenged cannot be left out.

4. Many of the organisations who have representatives on these list can check
the past corespondence as I know many of them have been making these demands
for years.
5. Now of course it is up to each one of us to do our bit and send the
letters/emails in our personal capacities not depending only on the
organisations. Though I request all organisations to take this up urgently.

6. For the first time I am going to request each of you who does really write,
to please copy the mail to access India. I know that this will increase the
traffic on the list and the moderator will send me a stinker but there are 3
particular reasons-
a. Accessindia mails get prominently reflected on google search. I have no
technical idea as to why this happens but it does. The more noise we make the
more publicity we get and the more influence we have.
b. Let us really see who is writing and doing their bit and lets see who is
just making noise on the group and faltering when it comes to actual work.
c. This will inspire others to write and will also help others to copy words in
case we are stuck for words.

We need to take care of this problem urgently and have the Railway Ministry
issue a clarification otherwise we will have to wait for the next Budget.
