Director, National Association For The Blind, India 11, Khan Abdul Gaffar Khan Road, Worli Seaface Mumbai 400 030 Dear Sir/Madam, Sub: Computer training programme for VC persons with Marathi screen reader It gives us great pleasure to inform know that CDAC Mumbai, as part of the DIT sponsored TTS Consortium project, and under the leadership of IIT Madras, has developed Text-to-Speech Synthesis systems for Marathi. Parallel systems have been developed for 5 other Indian languages by member instituitions of the consortium. These 6 Indian languages (Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, Marathi, Malayalam and Bengali) have now been integrated into NVDA and ORCA screen reders (using the festival port). It has been planned to conduct training programs for the Visually Challenged persons in the vernacular using NVDA and ORCA at different sites across India. CDAC Mumbai is conducting a 6 week Workshop/Training programme for VC people at its Juhu centre from 15th June to 26th July 2011 on NVDA integrated with Marathi TTS. The course will be conducted by a competent VC person. This will run weekly 5 days (Monday to Friday) for 2-3 hours during office timings. We will be able to accomodate about 30 students.Transport facility will be provided to and fro Andheri station. Certificates will be provided at the end of the programme.The workshop will be free of cost. We request you to nominate some students (both boys and girls) those who have passed / recently appeared for SSC exam. Looking forward to your active participation.
