Hi all, Happy to share that the number of subscribers of our sms channel called EyewayNews, today crossed 2000!
The channel was launched on 25 April 2009. Till date we have posted 956 sms. The messages have been primarily about job vacancies, training programmes, government/court orders, and other positive news useful for blind/low-vision people in the country. The service is not only free to subscribe, but also has been our most cost effective medium to reach out with relevant information to people with vision impairment. Moreover, it has also helped us to improve reach of our other channels - the helpdesk, radio show, website, seminars/workshops and the recently started advocacy work. The success is mainly because of three reasons - it's a user friendly medium, we promoted it well, and we shared useful content through it.
