You can make the icon to remain visible always when the pen-drive is plugged in. Follow these steps to do so:
1. Open Control Panel. (Start -> Settings -> Control Panel in Windows XP, Start -> Control Panel in Windows Vista) 2. Select the option named Taskbar and Staart Menu and press Enter to open Taskbar and Start Menu Properties dialog box. 3. Press CTRL+TAB to navigate to the Notification Area tab in the dialog box. (You may need to press this keystroke a couple of times as there are multiple tabs in the dialog box) 4. Press TAB to navigate to Customize button and press Enter to open Customize Notification Icons dialog box. 5. Press DOWN ARROW to move to the option named Safely Remove Hardware. 6. Press RIGHT ARROW to move the cursor to the combo box containing options available for the icon. Select Show from the combo box using arrow keys. The other options available are Hide when Inactive and Hide. 7. Optional: If you want to change options for other icons, press LEFT ARROW and repeat steps 5 and 6. 7. Activate the Ok button to close the Customize Notification Icons dialog box. 8. Activate the Ok button to close the Taskbar and Start Menu Properties dialog box.
