If you can open the book with Kursweil you should be able to convert it into audio format. It is still the most blinds friendly software as per my Knowledge. Bala bolka is another software. But i have not tried it. But some of my friends have tried it. If you can mail me the problems you faced while converted the file, I think, I can help you.
