Oh I have gone through the ordeal. IF phone switch does not work then don't waste time do a bit of hard work and transfer your contacts by saving 250 contacts in sim from x phone to y phone.
Once you go on options of contacts in Y phone you would have copy contacts option then copy the sim contacts to memory card and then insert sim in x phone and delete sim contacts then select more 250 contacts from 251st contact and repeat the process till you finish copying your contacts.
