That's correct that laptops are these days coming out only with 64 bit OS. While I have read in many places that you could indeed install 32 bit in a 64 bit laptop, I never did myself and henceforth cannot comment on it. You will not have issues with screen readers, but several drivers may not be available for 64 bit version. As for as I know, both JAWS and K1000 work fine with 64 bit. To avoid complecations, your best bet is to go for netbooks which come with 32 bit OS by default.
