BGFI celebrates international day for disabled-Musical evening by Visually
impaired
Blind Graduates forum of India, a non government organization working for the
empowerment of the visually challenged organized a musical evening of blind
artists on Saturday December 17, 2011 to celebrate the international day for
persons with disabilities which is observed worldwide on December 3rd. The
programme was held at Sai Sabhagraha Shankarnagar, Nagpur. All the singers and
instrumentalists were visually challenged. The programme began with ganesh
vandana by Ms. Puja. Noted singer of Tamil film industry Jairam Balasubramanian
regaled the audience with hit numbers like Maula re Maula Sandese aate hain
etc. He was suitably joined by Ms. Amruta Bhople in songs like Gata Rahe mera
dil, Abhi n jao chodkar etc. Other singers included Ziya, Deepak Chapekar,
Meena. The programme was inaugurated by Ms. Uma, manager Bank of India.
While introducing the NGO, Mr. Rajesh Asudani its national vice president told
that BGFI particularly works for the education and employment of the visually
challenged. Recently it has launched free classes to prepare them for
competitive exams at Dhantoli.
He urged all the present to associate with this noble cause in various roles
like volunteering as readers/writers for blind students, making available
computers to make them computer literate and so on.
Mr. Vinod Asudani, national secretary of BGFI compared the programme. Its
Nagpur chapter president Lakshman Khapekhar, Vice president Gunjan Singh,
Secretaries Prateek Karmarkar, and Amruta Bhopale, treasurer Dilip Chilbule,
executive members Dashrath Dhole, Ravindra Yadav, Neelkanth Dekate Dr.
Ghanshyam Asudani, Jigdnyasa, and Shweta Mishra worked hard to make the
programme a success.
