Hi Jean Parker, Seems like a wonderful document on mobility for everyone, especially for people like me who are still hesitating to take up independent mobility. It's only recently that I have realised that white cane is as useful and important as a screen reading software. Hoping to see more white cane users on the road after reading documents like this.
The document is in Office 2007 format. Since some of our friends are still using Office 2003, I have converted it and uploaded a doc version at http://www.sendspace.com/file/gmzvlr On 1/14/12, Jean Parker <[email protected]> wrote: > Dear All: > > Several months ago we had a lengthy discussion about independent mobility. > During that discussion I said I would make available a document with > detailed explanations of effective cane travel and other related topics. > Due to a number of delays the document did not get posted as intended nor > was it available at the Trivandrum meeting also as planned. > > Below, is a dropbox link to the document which was originally written by Tom > Bickford but contains extensive notation by me about how the concepts can be > applied to those of us living in developing countries, including India. > Unfortunately, it has not been formatted correctly for printing but someone > can take that on if they wish. > > The link, which can be pasted into your browser, is below: > Jean Parker > > http://dl.dropbox.com/u/3611922/CARE%20AND%20FEEDING%20OF%20THE%20LONG%20WHITE%20CANE.docx > > Search for old postings at: > http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/ > > To unsubscribe send a message to > [email protected] > with the subject unsubscribe. > > To change your subscription to digest mode or make any other changes, please > visit the list home page at > http://accessindia.org.in/mailman/listinfo/accessindia_accessindia.org.in > > -- G.
