Hello Jyotsna,

Most of the smileys and emoticons are pretty much accessible in applications
like skype. But fail in applications like word, email clients like outlook
express and webmail. Even if you typed the right symbols to make a smiley face
like for example the ones listed below in this email, you will notice that JAWS
just does not read it exactly as how it is or not as an emoticon or smiley:

Use reading keys to get the symbols after the first colon from the description
of the smiley.

For smile: :)
For laugh: :D
For cool: 8-)
For sad: :(

I suggest that if you are writing to another screen reader user you should use
the words like sad, smile, laugh etc. to express the emoticons or smileys. But
for a sighted person use the symbols illustrated above. You can get more random
smileys and emoticons to use in your communication from the site:
http://www.netlingo.com/smileys.php

Other list members are to help sight more instances of using them in their
communication and kindly share on this thread to get a better understanding of
the same.
