Hi Tiny Loadstone surely works in India. However, if you are expecting turn by turn navigation, LS is not designed for it.
You do get point of interest for many parts of India including those provided by Google maps and Open Source Maps. I am not sure, it would be a very good idea spending for external receivers as in the future when you buy a phone with onboard GPS receiver, it will go waste. If you use one of the newer phones which has accessible OVI maps, it gives a richer experience as it gives turn by turn navigation.
