Dear Rambabuji,

You may be aware that Government of Gujarat is denying appointment of blind persons as teachers for the Primary Schools. Despite this post being identified as reserved by the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment for blind persons as per provisions of Sections 32 and 33 of PWD Act, 1995. It is truly unfortunate that Government of Gujarat should take such unjustified stand and deny right to employment as Primary Teachers to blind persons.

I reuest all the members of forum to share the following information so that we may use the same as documentaly evidence;

1. Name of a blind person working as teacher in a Primary School

2. Any advertisement from any State Government that mentions that blind person is eligible to be appointed as teacher in primary, upper primary school

3. Any notification or circular mentioning that blind person is eligible to be appointed as a teacher in a primary school

4. Any award or recognition won by blind person while working as a teacher at the primary, upper primary school level.

5. Any other information or judgment that matter support our contention that it is right of a blind person to be appointed as teacher

I also request all the members to circulate this email among your contacts so that we may collect lot of information in this regard to justify our stand and ensure protection of rights of persons with blindness enshrined in the legislations of our country.

Praful Vyas.

Dear Prafulji,
Greetings!
Hope that you would remember me.
I came across your message in Accessindia regarding Gujarath Government's refusal to appoint VI persons as teachers. This is highly condemnable act. In my state--Tamilnadu, almost every year a number of VI persons are being appointed. Of course, they are mostly at the Elementary level to Higher Secondary Levels. I don't think whether anyone is appointed at the Primary level. Could you let me know that whether the Government is refusing to appoint VI persons as teachers at the Primary level alone or at all levels?
With best wishes,
Dr. A.Rambabu,
