I think you should turn the Forms mode On and press Up/Down arrow keys to navigate through the items in the list. The current item indicates your selection. If it is a checkbox list then press spacebar to check/uncheck an item. Use CTRL key alongwith arrow and spacebar for selecting multiple items in a list that allows multiple choices.
