Dear friends, Many of you are probably aware that apart from being a brilliant film maker Satyajit Ray excelled as a writer and his writings for children are loved by young as well as adults. Mystery series created by him and the detective Feluda is a great favourite among Bengali children. Yesterday an organisation called Third Eye launched Braille version of Feluda novels in a programme in Kolkata. At present two of them - Sonar Kella and Royal Bengal Rahasya are available and more from the series will be converted to Braille very soon. Third Eye believes that not just text books but children with print disability need to read story books as well - so they concentrate on producing fictions in alternate format. This initiative of Third Eye is supported by Cognizant through its CSR.
During the inauguration children with visual impairments presented cultural programme. "The Inner Eye" a national award winning documentary film by Satyajit Ray on the live of the blind visual artist Binod Bihari Mukherjee was also screened in this event.
