Thank you for sharing the information. I too am seriously concerned like Amit over these kinds of statistics. I know very few persons who are really employed. As for women, the number will not come into any percentage. Perhaps they are considering even begging and household jobs as types of employment. Only then can the figures come to 38%.

Thanks Amit Bhatt for raising these issues. when I read this report, I felt
like asking, now, from where do they get these data? As you must have seen
the media did not mention any source in its report.

i wanted to share this report in Access-India forum as I felt there might
have been some of you who went to his seminar and can throw some light on
this interesting data we read in the media.

THE GIVEN FIGURE OF EMPLOYED DISABLED PEOPLE IN India does not seem
to be absolutely correct though.
The system of conducting census is not up to the mark and the related
authority and it's people fail to spot many other important
information in their census being conducted in India.
I deem hardly 20% of total population of the disabled would be
employed in Government and Private sector altogether in the Country.
I don't understand why big organizations like FICCI and others are
organizing such seminars time to time just for the sake of social
responsibilities, but their aftermath is less than 1%.
People do talk a lot in such seminars, but do nothing once the program is
over.
I remember, there were lot of mails regarding job opportunities for
the disabled, like 2000 jobs for disabled, applications invited from
nasscom and so on. But, could anyone be able to let me know how many
disabled, mainly visually impaired folks are hired by these employers?
These organization just publishing their advertisement for the
reputation.

My humble request to these concerned people and organizations is to
just do something on the practical ground, and then show the figures.
But do not talk and tell the unnecessary stats to the people across
the Country.
